Virtual Monterey Jazz Festival '63

The 63rd Monterey Jazz Festival will be held online Sept. 25 through Sept. 27. The Festival will feature Herbie Hancock, Diana Krall, Quincy Jones, Any many, many more. This incredible lineup features exclusive new and previously unreleased archival performances from the Monterey Jazz Festival! Unique and memorable jazz moments will be across the three days, September 25-27, 2020. The Virtual Festival will be streamed online each day from 5-7 pm Pacific Time on the Monterey Jazz Festival’s YouTube Channel.

One hundred percent of online contributions from each day of the Virtual Festival will be donated to the Thurgood Marshall College Fund, the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, and to jazz artists featured at the Virtual Festival.

Fundraiser to benefit Alliance on Aging

Trashion 2020 will be a special virtual event with the theme Hollywood Mask Glam. Local designers will showcase their one-of-a-kind face masks that reflect their individual styles. A raffle will also take place on Oct. 22 from 5:30 to 6:30 pm on Zoom. A link to the event will be provided to those who purchase tickets.

Virtual Therapeutic Yoga Free Class Offered

Join a licensed physical therapist and certified yoga instructor, Dr. Madrigal, for a virtual Therapeutic Yoga session. Beginning at 5 pm on Thursday, September 24th, follow Dr. Madrigal for a relaxing one-hour yoga flow along with a breathing technique demonstration. Improve your body's mobility, strength, and balance while reducing pain and promoting healing!

Senior Connect Thursdays on Zoom

The Seniors in our community can feel isolated during the current Covid-19 health crisis.  You are not alone.  Monterey County Behavioral Health is here to connect with you and connect you to the community.  Seniors will meet via ZOOM on Thursdays at 11:00 to share stories, coping strategies, and wellness tips.  Information on topics and connections can be viewed on the Monterey County Behavioral Health Senior Connect page.

Advance Health Care Planning Workshops

During COVID-19 Hospice Giving Foundation is offering free daily online Advance Health Care Planning workshops. Workshops will be offered M-W-F at noon; Tu-Th at 5:30 PM. In these interactive 45-minute sessions, workshop attendees will learn how to access, complete and formalize their wishes using an Advance Health Care Directive.

Governor Newsom announced  a meal delivery program for senior citizens in California.

 

The program provides three nutritious meals a day to senior citizens at home. All meals are to be prapared by local restaturants using only locally produce foods.

California For All Information Guide on COVID-19

Governor’s Office, the California Department of Aging, and AARP CA partnered to launch the California For All resource card, a FREE, one-stop information guide.

The resource card is a centerpiece of the “Stay Home. Save Lives. Check In.” campaign, which urges all Californians to help combat social isolation and food insecurity by checking in on vulnerable neighbors with a call, a text, or a “physically-distanced” knock on the door.

 

The card is also available electronically, and it can be DOWNLOADED HERE.  A Spanish and Chinese language digital card will be available this week.

Food distribution for seniors on Tuesdays (2pm 4pm) at the Los Arboles Middle school Parking Lot.

CHISPA has teamed up with Meals on Wheels to provide food to seniors at Marina Manor and The Jensey Oaks.

The Marina Senior Center is a fun, safe, healthy environment and affordable program where all seniors can participate. We offer a variety of recreational opportunities for the seniors of Marina and our surrounding communities.

 

The Marina Senior Center is open to adults ages 55 and up. Our doors open from 9:00 am – 2:00 pm on Monday through Friday. We are closed on weekends and holidays.

Tai Chi

Tai Chi is a considered path to reduce stress and improve physical balance. 

Board Games & Coffee

Seniors play checkers, dominoes and possibly an assortment of card games.
